Alaska for the summer....
We did a very quick turn-around between arriving
home from China and leaving for Alaska. We hadn't planned it that
way, in fact I was looking forward to getting home from China and
spending Memorial Day weekend just being home. Puttering in the
garden and just hanging out. However, since we had gotten home a
few days early and Bill was planning on going climbing up in the
Mammoth area over the long weekend, it seemed a waste of time (and gas)
to drive up to Mammoth then back to SD and then head north a few days
later. So, we did a quick recovery from our jet lag (actually it
took about 3-4 days to feel really normal again), and we headed north
on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend.
After a weekend in Clark Canyon with Larry, Miriun
and the kids we headed north taking our time and visiting along the
way. We saw Bill's Dad in Sacramento, our friends Jim and Kathy
in Grant's Pass (OR), Aunt Pat in Florence (OR), and then showed up
on Dsh and Ali's doorsteps in the Portland area and
subjected them to geocaching. ;-) After that we got
serious and drove all the way from Portland into Canada in one
day. We stayed at a campground just outside of Chiliwack,
British Columbia.
OK...this is as far as I've gotten - we've been having too much fun -
But I have gotten the pictures posted and that's what most of you want
to see anyway. I'll let you know if/when I create a log for Alaska
