So what is this Excellent Adventure thing????


 Bill and I have decided to take a year off and travel...
so we've given our notice at our jobs and we'll hit the road in mid/late September.

Why?  

  Well, we figured we could wait until we got to be 60 and retired and then go 
travel, and be satisfied with a week or 2 here and there until then...but then 
we thought what the heck,  why not take a year now while we're still feeling 
young enough to do the stuff we want to do.  

  We've certainly been through enough job changes in the last 2-3 years - 
so having to look for another job doesn't bother us. OK, the truth...not having
a job freaks me (Diane) out, but heck this is why I've been saving that money
for all those years.


What's the plan? Plan?  We don't need no stinkin' plan. :-)

Actually, the first couple months will be traveling around the US,  
and we're still making plans...

Possibilities include:

Bejing, China  (Bill's Mom is teaching english there)
Alaska
Mongolia
Hanging out in Denver and being ski bums
Mexico
Costa Rica

The list of ideas could easily fill many years....

letting us know what they are!

If you want us to visit you, please tell us!  We'd love to see everyone-
even if it's just getting together for lunch or dinner.

Are we going to sell our house?  

  No - we'll be using it as a home base and coming back to it between trips.
And Gus has to have someplace to stay when we're in the places where we can't 
take him. 

Did we win the lotto?  or Cash in a bunch of stock options?

  Sadly, no. :-) We just saved some money and plan to live frugally.
